Barb when you upload on here click the picture icon, then select file, now while you are looking for your pictures hold the ctrl key while selecting every image you want to share. It will batch upload for you. Of course my browser (Safari) wont let me batch upload pictures. I have to use Chrome for that.

I would like to share this story with Sebastopol geese lovers. This is a gander I sold to a lovely lady. She was very lonely and need a companion and this is how the story went from love at first sight of recieving the gosling.

Print | E-mail Leesa Beckmann is a familiar face around town as she frequents the Barry Lakes beach, the Highland Lakes General Store, the A&P and the Dorothy Henry Library to name a few local sites, where Leesa goes, so goes Oliver. The unusual couple is downright inseparable. Oliver happens to be a Sebastopol goose, a domesticated breed with curly, white feathers. Somewhat of a town celebrity, Oliver already has three children's books written about him by his beloved owner. "Oliver's Story," "Oliver's Dandelion Wishes" and "A Million Monarchs Munching Milkweed and a Goose" were written and illustrated by Beckmann over the last year and a half.

Leesa Beckmann's new children's book features her pet goose Oliver and Vernon's Matilda the Mastodon. The self published book is packed with Vernon locations and Vernon history. The book entitled "Oliver's Search for Miss Matilda and Her Murky Mud Puddle" took Beckmann about seven months to write, illustrate and self- publish. The book cleverly relates the story of Vernon's pre-historic resident Matilda the Mastodon who was recovered from Mastodon Lake on Route 638 back in 1954.

"I searched a long time for an idea that would tug at my heart, what better than to write about one's hometown," Beckmann said.
She attributes her inspiration to three neighborhood children Leanne, Jenn and Taylor Sweetman.
"The kids recently noticed the historical sign where the mastodon was discovered and suggested combining Matilda and Oliver in a story. "Oliver's Search for Miss Matilda and Her Murky Mud Puddle" is a merry romp through Vernon with Oliver at the wheel of his blue jalopy. Searching for Matilda, Oliver visits three of the township's schools, four landmarks, even maneuvers down Breakneck Road, only to be enlightened by a savvy Vernon squirrel.
"Matilda, Matilda, I've been looking for you/I traveled around Vernon in my jalopy of blue," one of the lines from the book reads.
"The book is a treasure for both young and old and actually teaches town history," beamed Beckmann, who hopes to inspire, motivate and encourage Vernon youngsters to read, write and learn hometown history.
"Oliver's Search for Miss Matilda and Her Murky Mud Puddle," as well as, Oliver's other three books are available by contacting Beckmann and Oliver by emailing {C}{C}[email protected]{C}{C} or by Googling Oliver's website. The pair are also available for readings and presentations.
