Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

I know what I look for in my toulouse, and it is a solid, keel-less build. My female sebs are surprisingly light in comparison (except one), but the males could hold their own if it wasn't for the curls.

I can't say I pick the sebs up very often though, and when I do I am usually so in awe of the fluff I don't pay too much attention

They arent heavy, but shouldnt feel like they will blow away either. Meat on the bones, but not large for the most part. Complete opposite of out Toulouse geese (Exhibition Dewlap) who are large, robust birds who lumber across the yard.

The weight on sebs is:

old gander - 14 lbs
young gander - 12 lbs
old goose - 12 lbs
young goose - 10 lbs

The sebastopol is not a small goose, it is medium. Alot of the birds I have seen at the shows are very small compared to where they should be. I know my birds are right on for weight as I have had to weigh them to ship them off.

In the standard it also allows for birds of this weight to be above or below weight of 2lbs without cutting or dq's.

Got back from the Clanton AL show and I am very proud to say that the eggs I got from Jean not only produced a beautiful goose but she has proven it by being Reserve Champion Waterfowl x2 in the open show. We lost Champion to the most massive Rouen I have ever seen. Dang it!!
Yeah!!! It runs in the family!!! Congratulations.

When you pick them up, do you feel just fluff, or do they actually have some meat to them? : ) Hope that makes sense! LOL

They don't feel light, but I wasn't sure what their chest should feel like.

I'll have to weigh them to see where they are.

Love the Halloween special effects!

These aren't the best pics, but wanted to share. I love the one with most of them sleeping. Claire is in the upper right. Something about sleeping geese and ducks just melts my heart.
