Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

I had to put an x-pen and a dog house in the chicken coop today for the Sebbies. I think they will be as safe as I can make them for this storm that has started blowing in. Be safe everyone.

I love fall- free bedding! And the chickens love it too. Dig, dig, look. Dig, dig, look, all day long.

Be safe Renie! I hope you guys are on higher ground. Gosh this storm looks SO bad. Movie bad.
thank you,

not worried about flooding here... more worried trees will fall on our house or loose power while the incubator is going with English Buff Eggs in it. :( and we will loose water if we loose power.

Do you have any of the big "Hot Hands"? I have used them in a hova genesis in the cold of winter and was able to keep it at 95 until the power came back on. You have to really watch them though because they can get too hot, so you might have to keep it propped open. I just pulled mine out of storage just in case I have to throw some in with the smaller chicks.

Its super windy and cold here.I guess some parts of TN are actually getting snow, but not us.

We will be ok... Vivi bought me a sportsman and my husband did a nice job servicing our genny today. Got lots of filled gas cans :) I am just plain tired right now.

What a CRAZY storm. 1/2 my family is without power up on Lake Erie. They closed the highway because of there are 40 ft waves crashing over it. Nothing but really high winds here. The birds don't seem to mind much, but the dogs and donkey aren't too happy.

Hope everybody is OK!

I hope everyone is ok and doing well!

I found someone close to that is selling a mixed feed very very cheap (I think 17-20 cents a pound) and I was wondeing if the nutritional value in the feed would be sufficient enough for my chickens, ducks and geese?

Here is the what the label says
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein, Minimum.......16%
Crude Fat, Minimum..............5%
Crude Fiber, Maximum..........9%
Ingredients:
Red & White Wheat, D Corn, Green & Yellow, Pea, Oat & Barley Pellets, Green & Red Lentils, Kelp & Soy Meal. It does say it not a complete feed but could I feed this to them as a suplementry feed? Also does anyone collect you sebastopol geese feathers and sell them to people for arts&crafts? or for other Things? Thanks

I would use for the adults in combination with a good layer crumble. Would have to see how much corn is actually in it though.

I think I found something similar to what i have been buying from a local mill from Purina. Its called field blend or something like that? It has a picture of a pheasant on it, I think? Anybody know what I am talking about? It looked like something I might get in case my stuff isn't available, but its almost twice the price.

I save the good feathers I find. Sometimes I give them away to friends for crafts, but I don't sell them.

Barley, peas and lentils all are very hard to digest by birds, especially the barley. And I don't recommend kelp because of the salt content.

D corn is distillers corn that is already been distilled and spent on making alcohol or ethanol. I have removed most corn from my waterfowl's diet.
