Please forgive my continued ignorance, as I try to get it straight in my head. Then the term sexlink is a technical term that does not apply here, but basically the external result is the same? By that I mean the pullets will be the color of the male (gold male with silver female, or silver male with gold female) and the cockerals will not be the color of the daddy roo, which gives the outwardly same result .... that being the ability to distinguish cockeral or pullet at hatch?

I just picked up a Silver Sebright chick last week and can't wait to see if it's a boy or a girl! The rest of my chicks are all girls. When I was picking up my last group of chicks from the hatchery, they were putting some bantams out for sale and the little SS was the only one of that kind, and was sooo tiny and adorable, I just HAD to have it! I named her / him "Smidge", and am having a blast watching Smidge mature with the rest of the girls (two of which are Jersey Giants and that makes for an entertaining picture!). Just THE most adorable little thing ever!!!

Can anyone tell me at what age will I start to be able to tell whether Smidge is a boy or a girl? And what do I look for?

The pullets have very small combs, and the cockerels grow a "spike" at the end of the comb at the back, facing backward.


Um, maybe 12 weeks or so? I am no expert, just have a couple of each.

I am trying to find someone who raises TOP QUALITY SQ Sebrights?
