Sebright sick, possible nerve problem

Thanks. I read the articles, they were really good. I get what you're saying it does look like Marek's but she also has all the symptoms in the article for a fungal infection in the respiratory tract. As you say, it could be both. The reality is I don't have a lot of money to spend at the vets when it's likely the treatment won't be effective, if they'll even prescribe the medication. If she's not making improvements tomorrow I'll consider getting her put down as I don't want her to be suffering a slow death by asphyxiation.
One more question, is Marek's a case of certain death? I read in another forum post that if the birds do recover they die later of tumors, do you think that's correct?

I had the bird put down, I ended up being pretty sure it was Marek's. None of my other birds are showing signs and they have all been in contact with each other for weeks. I just have to hope for the best. Thanks for all the advice and information.

So sorry that you lost her. Sometimes a necropsy done at home can shed light on what might have gone wrong. Mareks may have many tiny tumors that can be seen on organs, and sometimes the sciatic nerves can be enlarged on one side. Aspergillosis, the fungal disease can sometimes be seen as well. @rebracora lives in the UK and deals with Mareks, so she might be able to suggest where you could get testing if another bird should show symptoms.
