**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Im setting my first ever batch of turkey eggs today. 14 Bourbon Red eggs collected from my 2 hens, I will also set chicken eggs in 7 days to hatch with them. And soon I will start collecting eggs for this hatchathon I think I will set Marans eggs with my turkey eggs. Is 2 weeks to long to collect and store turkeys eggs? I know 7 days or less is probably best Im just trying to decide how many eggs I want to set.

I have committed my first felony -

I sent the following PMs to eight people...

You have been kidnapped.
Remain calm and nobody gets hurt.

You have been taken to the 'Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon' thread and added as a participant. Your cooperation is appreciated, but not required. However, if you refuse to cooperate, we may hound you till you change your mind.

In case you are wondering, your name was suggested by a member of last years Hatchathon as a necessary participant. Go there now, don't make us get out the straight jackets......

If you have any others that need this treatment, let me know. Next thing you know, I will be assaulting people for getting too hysterical....

Well, it's really slushy and gross out there. I let the turkeys out of their run yesterday as it was all coming down because it was 32* and they seemed to be so HAPPY in it...and they went all over the edge of the woods barking and drumming, gobbling and yipping! Silly beasts. They were just as happy to cozy up in the coop when it started to hit dusk, though, so the trees must not have seemed like much fun for an overnight.

Glad to see we'll be absconding with more participants! This is a fun hatch, and it's really nice to have a multi-stage event like this with turkey tutors and a small enough group that we can keep up somewhat. What are you all hatching for? I'm going to sell most of the poults, I think, and maybe hang on to a couple for the holidays. I don't like the RP nearly as well personality-wise, so I'll likely keep a couple of those so it won't be so hard to send them off.

Is anyone else starting seeds in the house? I have 8" sets of three sisters threatening to migrate into the houseplants...and 6" of snow on the ground, so I can't do much about it!

I think I'll plant some more, just the same. It'll be good to get that jump start and have an early harvest.

The only things sprouting in my house now are wheat berries and sunflower seeds for the chickens to have some greens while the ground is frozen. I'll start some garden veggies sometime in April, maybe around the time I set the turkey eggs!

Yup... seeds galore here.

Got the bulb onions and celery started a few weeks ago.

Tomatoes and peppers last weekend but not many "hatched" so far. I usually do them in a ziploc bag in a damp paper towel but I think they got too hot this year. Might redo them Wednesday if there's still nothing then.

Still a bunch of snow on the ground here, but hopefully soon it'll be melted.

I don't know what I'm hatching for, I was one of the ones poultnapped.

I'd like to report a kidnapping. If I can find some Turkey eggs I'll hatch turkeys, otherwise I'll hatch tutors. Hey, if my Langshan are laying, they're about the size of turkeys, right?

I am absolutely loving that we are hijacking/shanghaiing/kidnapping uh I mean "highly encoraging" (yeah that's what I meant

) people to join in this year. Makes it that much more fun. SCG I will send you as many as I have next Saturday but not sure how many I will have. This return to winter is not really inspiring the girls too much. This week we are supposed to slowly creep back to 60 so I am hoping that production picks up especially with Edith. I know her eggs are fertile just not sure about Lil Lurkey.
