**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

How do you stop this hatching addiction?
I wish somebody could tell!
The eggs are so pretty, the chicks are so cute,
surely DH couldn't yell.
I'll make him an omelette, with peppers and cheese,
to keep him preoccupied.
He'll never see me run for the 'bator,
with these beautiful eggs set aside.
My plan didn't work, it's the sofa for me,
But in three short weeks,
we'll have company!!!!

I candled every egg as well...9 look great, 3 look iffy, but were put in a day later and had the "blood ring" and somehow a hard boiled egg slipped in! haha.
A hard boiled egg?

Okay, I will give a poem a try.

There once was a chicken named Fran,
She really did hate every man
She balked all the day
and never would stay
so in the end she went in the frying pan

Sorry, it is not very good.

Eggs are in the oven! I got a broody!!!!

(My Blue Copper Olive egger is sitting tight on all 8 eggs as we speak!)... and she is huge! No problem covering all of them. It would have been a problem for my Icelandic.

I did warm them considerably before taking them out and I candled. At least three detached air cells so we'll see what happens.

Wahoo!

so I have a question: in a couple of my turkey eggs and about half of the chicken eggs I set the same day (saturday the 6th, so today is day 10) I see what really looks like blood rings, but I also still see veins. My assumption is that they have bacterial infections and are dead but haven't been dead long enough for the veins to break down yet. Is this a reasonable assumption or could the "blood ring" be part of the vascular system? This is my first time incubating with a turner so I'm not used to candling eggs that haven't been laying on their sides. When they are upright the aircell obscures a lot of the action, so to speak.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are dead, I've had some problems regulating proper temp and I'm honestly pretty surprised and excited about the couple of eggs that look to have good veins and moving embryos. I marked the questionable eggs but I'm wondering how long to leave them before I check again/pull them out. Seeing as I've had problems I don't want to mess with things more than I have to, but I also don't want exploding eggs.

Let them go!

I sometimes think I see a blood ring and it resolves into a healthy egg. All the eggs with blood rings did not have veins.
