**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Another limerick -

We all know a Chick we call Chooks.
Her chickens fill crannies and nooks.
She instigates hatches,
and projects, and batches.
Her knowledge could fill several books!

This is just too much fun! Please pass the word to others on your subscribed threads. We will have lots of fun reading them while we wait on our set date and first candle. The Contest rules are on Post # 442

There was a Serama named Guv
Who became quite obsessed with his love
She'd squat on command
When he made his demand
Ohhhh....if only she wasn't a....DUCK!

(This is actually a true story. My little Serama cockerel set his sights on my chocolate/white Muscovy duck and I saw him many times up on her back, beak full of her head feathers, wiggling away doing his thing. Of course since his parts matched up approximately with her shoulder blades, I never worried too much about winding up with Seramucks).

I set mine today I have staggered hatches so they had to go in now I can't set again for awhile due to me going on a Back Country Horseman camp out my husband isn't very good about checking the humidity and stuff. I'll have 2 small hatches though before so I'll try to get some pictures to share
Hooray! Early birds!

I set 6 scovy eggs Sunday.

They look like they had a rough trip (shipped) so I'm not too hopeful, but maybe I'll get 1-2. Saving goose eggs too, should have hopefully 3 or so to set, I think on Friday? If I get any duck eggs I'll be setting those for the hatch too. They A) aren't laying well (calls), and B) what eggs I am finding are being smashed by someone. Probably the geese.

I've started locking them up until noon in their own pen, so hopefully I'll get a few though.

And I'll be setting serama and d'uccles later. So everything but turkeys, pretty much.

I still have turkey eggs down here in Lawrence coming fast & furiously. You need turkeys. Because turkeys!!

Quote: Indeed. Nothing more true has ever been said.

I think it's time to break out the

  • All participants are, by definition, completely out of their heads and addicted to poultry a bit wonky individuals.
  • As thus, we want to belly flop off the deep end we wish to honor the spirit of the unconventional by creatively choosing a straightjacket self-hugging fashion wrap/sports jacket.

So get on with it! What are you wearing??? I'm wearing a pink faux-fur lined satin number with bowling-shirt-style trim and collar and 'Pink Pullets' on the back in 50's-style lettering. I've got a bow in my hair to go with it.

Here's last year's model:

Oh my word...I hadn't caught up yet when I posted...

You guys are magnificent!!!

I can't believe the talent!!

Truly a great choice for the contest.

I'm going to have to give away winner's choice of Chocolate Bantam Orps, Chocolate Project Marans, Chocolate Project d'Uccles, Chocolate/Mauve Project Barred Rocks, Chocolate Mottled Project Cochins, or Chocolate/Mauve Project Ameraucanas. I can see it'll be stiff competition!!

For those of you who don't know, I am a huge Alabama Football fan. My straight-jacket is a snappy little number made from Hounds-tooth material with Crimson Leather trim and buckles. I top it off with silver Elephant dangly earrings and my Nick Saban Panama Jack straw hat with Crimson band.

Won't you share your straight-jacket's design with us? We are always looking to steal ideas........
