deb that is funny because my Lurkey came from Lotsapaints too!

I picked up a dozen eggs from her at a poultry party. I only had three hatch and two never got up on their feet correctly. So my one little poult grew up in a pen full of silkies (the tutors). As a single, what was more natural than Turkey Lurkey?

I ordered poults from Porter's and when they started to get half the size of Lurkey, they were moved together. Lurkey cried pitifully for days and days looking for the missing fluffy friends and did NOT want to live with those nasty turkeys.

I still have turkey eggs down here in Lawrence coming fast & furiously. You need turkeys. Because turkeys!!

Lol, I love turkeys. And I would have them if I could. I'm in the city though, and my turkeys liked going into the road. I sold them because I was afraid they were going to cause an accident.
But, I will be filling my incubators with everything else possible for the hatch. I already tossed my scovy eggs. They didn't come through shipping well or something. But I have 3 goose eggs going in tomorrow.

And I got a few eggs from my ducks and am hoping for some more by sunday. And my serama are laying like crazy. Speaking of them, I'd love to donate 6+ serama eggs for a contest prize. I'd offer other eggs, but my serama are the only ones laying well enough.


And, just because I love showing off my cute babies, here is yesterdays hatch. A couple serama, a d'uccle, and a mallard.

Just keep in mind, my Slates and RP are all running together and the boys are ALL very active. Poults will be probably mostly crossbreeds. That's how I'm going to convince myself to eat them this year.

no you'll be making blue Palms......really go look at Porters now you'll have a "rare" color. I get around the processing part by taking them in to get done I always say I will not get attached always a part of my heart goes with them which is promptly forgotten when they are nameless in a vacuum bag they do taste totally awesome I no longer buy turkey at the store. Ask me again next year when I'll have lots of ground turkey as I'll be rotating new stock in and the old ones will have to go.....I keep telling myself "the circle of life" I mutter to myself quite often
