Makes life a bit easier!

I just got my eggs set at 5:30. I was running a bit behind. I needed to move two trays out to the hatchers to make room.

I know we don't need proof of set, or anything like that..................I just couldn't believe that I set 54 turkey eggs!

That's 54 turkeys, 6 call ducks, 1 araucana, 5 serema and for a friend, 7 OE & 14 empordanesa.

The turkey eggs are mostly various stages of clean to semi-filthy. The worst ones marked with an 'x' are my first experiment with washing eggs and treating them with oxine. My turkeys try their best to lay directly into mud or turkey droppings.

guys.. if I am a bit AWOL for the next few days it's because my husband is home from Afghanistan!

He was wounded in early March.. so they finally sent him home... now I have to catch up on spoiling him rotten I do want to thank y'all for keeping me company and helping to keep me busy .. and i know I didn't tell most of you about it.. but it's one of those things where we just aren't allowed to say much... so thanks again!
Boo to the injury but I'm glad he's home. My hubby's a soldier too and I know how rough deployments can be. Go spend time with your man :)

Quote: haaahaa-- crispy skin is a must!!! ANd I like to eat the p an dripping, so double reasons to prevent burning. THough I don't eat potatos anymore, I"m sure the dogs, or chooks would eat them all!! Thanks for the ideas. Maybe a little water to start with , then let it evaporate at the end.

ETA: this is my first time ever setting/hatching turkeys..... do I hatch them just like chicken eggs???
idunno.gif
Yes, that is what makes them easy. TO make your life easy, hatch a few turkey tudors. . . . oops ,. . . . tudor turkey tutors!!! Ooops again . . . .. no turkeys in tudor times . . . .

I've got 3 eggs developing of 4 set previously (2 blue slate, 2 royal palm, not sure which the quitter was, they eggs are unmarked) from shipped eggs.

Just set eggs from TheBirdGuy - 7 B (Black Spanish), 1 labeled CT, I think...not sure what that one is.

:)

It's my first try at turkeys, can't wait!
