Glad I'm not the only one who is self distructive.

Rotten egg smell = white vinegar! Stat!.... I had birds lating in weird spots last year and my grand daughter didn't see one and stepped on it. We found a nest of old eggs that someone had given up on. Took 3 onths to get the smell out o fher boots. By the time the smell cleared it was summer and her feet had grown. I left those things on the patio where we couldn't smell them and then one day I grabbed while vinegar to finish getting rid of it. Which I should have done at once, but I just couldn't stomach it. LOL

My Pyr needed to go out and the old man took her out, she even took a double look, smelled and ran out the door, now that is sad

I picked up Bourbon Red eggs today. I have some Welsummer eggs, that are supposed to be here tomorrow, so I will put them all in after I get the mail.

Also, if I bought 3 eggs and my friend bought 3 eggs, and only 3 hatch, how do we decide who gets what?
Uh oh - well, that decides it. I was so on the fence about getting some - wanting them but also knowing I don't really have room for them. So I kept flipping back and forth and not responding because I hadn't made up my mind yet. Its probably better this way. My new incubator arrived by FedEx yesterday and I've already filled it up. It was supposed to be a hatcher but I couldn't let the turkey eggs sitting on the counter go to waste, now, could I?

Still not sure what I'm going to use as a hatcher....

I think you should move...............

I think I might have to or I'm going to be puking all night, do you think the chicks that are in the brooder, are going to expire from the smell, I still think I might hurl
They'll just think that's what life on the outside smells like

I am sad because I actually wrote some poetry today for the Digest:

Mstricer had an egg explode in the incubator! A stinky mess that smells like death! Get me some Oxyne to clean that bator!(Is the poetry competition over?)
The stench was so foul the dog even ran for the door!

here's one of the duck eggs I cracked open:

I didn't bother to try to keep it since it hadn't been turned.. but this had been sitting on the counter for about a week or so (the cats had rolled it back behind a cannsiter that I rarely used.. so he had been there for a bit .. not 100% sure)..he was alive and well until I ended his poor little life...

Awwwwwww! Poor baby!!!

.. I may have to get some from you later on after your orders have been filled

Better get your order in NOW. I seem to always have a wait list on the calls.

Broke down and bought a second incubator for the surprise batch of eggs I received yesterday. I feel like I've officially gone over to the dark side.

Only problem: The box says this incubator holds 50 eggs and I only have 27 to put in it... No, No, No. Stop thinking like that!
gig.gif

yes, you need to order 2 dozen eggs.. when they send extras (that won't fit) you will need a new bator.. naturally you can't incubate just a few eggs in it.. so you'll have to order at least 4 dozen... and with extras you will need a fourth bator... naturally you can't just leave it with only a few eggs... so you'll have to order more

yes.. this is the hotdog and bun scenario.. there's never enough of one or the other.. so you must continue to buy them until it balances out... which in chicken math that = never!

don't feel bad.. I have broken so many toes just by walking across the floor... from the time I was 12 til 16 I had broken almost every bone in my body (extremely accident prone and had brittle bones...)
I don't even want to try to count how many times I've broken fingers & toes.

I told my husband about the cabinet incubator.. his reply.. "who?.. what?.. ME??"

I believe you said you also have muscovies???..if so.. how much would you want for a dozen or so?.. and what color are yours?

poor puppy!

I've never had the pleasure of a stinky egg in my bator. I think I need to hatch more.

I don't want to miss out, you know?

Oh and my eggs are STILL IN DC. I hope they get the good tour.

Should just have a friend go pick them up and drive them up here. Sheesh.
