**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Now I have freezing cold kits. My does weren;t due yet, but I found on on the cage flood and dead in one cage, no other babies. Then I checked my does that has been bred brefore and one on the wire and almost frozen, and all the straw was out of the box and not enough fur to cover the other and 2 are barely breathing. I'm not sure how to warm them up or if I can even save them.

I don't have rabbits and haven't in probably 25 years, but wouldn't you just use a towel and your body heat and bring them in?
They're inside now and a filled a sock with beans. I keep heating it up. They were all 3 really cold and the 2 I thought I was losing. I held them together in my hands while I fixed the sock. had to hold the jar of beans with my knees. Wow I'm admitting that?? Ya, what the heck. Anyway there was something looking very ummm...once rabbity on the wire, so there must have been a 4th before I found them. I was posting on another thread and all os a sudden there was another kit. The cold ones were moving around a little, but now one is looking like it'[s really really weak. She's been a momma before, so I'm just so surprised to find these guys like this. And to top it off I had checked the other doe who was due with her first ever litter and found a dead baby on the wire and no others.

What happened to my life?? I was always the go to person and now I can seem to do anything right. It's frustrating. I'm not crying and being overly ...can't even find the words I want to use. I'm just finding it really hard to understand whats going on. It's never one things it's a multitude of things. I just don't get it.

Don't beat yourself up about it. It happens to the best and most experienced. I totally feel your pain and frustration. (Hugs). Things will get better again. Good luck with your babies. Trust yourself. :)

I have stretches of my life when nothing goes right, too. It seems like disaster after disaster. Most of it is work related, although I've had my fair share of personal tragedies. I cried at work yesterday. But I deal with it the best I can and I move on to the next disaster. And I laugh at the absurdity of it all, as well. And I have a few people who talk me back from the ledge when I become overwhelmed.

an empty incubator works wonders on warming up chilled baby critters. (lol.. gotta have it turned on)

I've had everything from baby ferrets to kittens, puppies, raccoons, possums and rabbits in mine

Sorry things are all going wrong! Like others have said, I have had times in my life where everything that can possibly go wrong does. But things always get better! Just hang in there and things will turn out right in the end.
P.S When I had cold baby rabbits I would stick them in my bra, that seemed to warm them up quick, but it does make you feel cold. I hope you babies start doing the bunny dance

I see nothing else happening and that little guy was really working at getting out and being heard for quit a while. I keep peeking in but a watched pot never boils and a watched egg never pips.

Thanks for hanging with me on this. I'm wondering if the vents were just closed so long that that's having something to do with it. Sure was a pretty blue chick. So you don't think I should try to maybe block the fan?

hate to tell you.. but you're stressing yourself out too much.. you need to go sit down.. get a nice hot cup of tea or cocoa and BREATHE..

the fan should be fine.. if more chicks start to have issues then worry about the fan.. normal pips are much more common than large pips with lazy chicks... Just check them every so often and if you see another doing the same thing just wrap a warm wet paper towel around the egg and over the pip and keep an eye on him.. then assist if need be... just don't rush in and go too fast too soon or you can do more damage than needed.

Aw Wolftracks, I'm so sorry life is stressing you out right now *hugs*.

Animals are so humbling to own and take care of, that's part of the reason I love them (keep me in my place). I can tell you care deeply about yours, but it sounds like most of your kits will make it. (remember the phrase "They're not dead until they're warm and dead"). Keep warming them, you'd be surprised how resiliant life can be.

Your incubator should be fine, 1% of humidity change won't really impact the hatch. Just make sure your vents are open at hatch, that's the most important part.

We're all here for you.

first hatch of turkeys are moved to their new home! we hatched 20 out of thirty eggs. second batch is on lock down. 55 eggs started on the 31st and the incubator is chirping away! I will have to make myself not look in on them before tomorrow night or sat morning.
