first hatch of turkeys are moved to their new home! we hatched 20 out of thirty eggs. second batch is on lock down. 55 eggs started on the 31st and the incubator is chirping away! I will have to make myself not look in on them before tomorrow night or sat morning.

congrats! It is hard to leave them alone when they are hatching.

The feed store bought the aggressive rooster this morning! They know he's mean and they put a sign on the cage telling people not to put their hands near him. The owner's son says that he'll be sold by the end of the day and we sold our 4 chicks of the same breed. I am so relieved he's gone!

Raz, I hear you on the "mean roo". I have one that I have been waiting to dispatch with mainly because I haven't gotten "a round tuit"

Well got that round tuit yesterday when DS texted me and begged me to do something about "Randy". This Sunday we are inviting Randy for dinner.

DS actually asked if I could "schedule the interview" with Randy with him. Surprising since he was a bit squeamish about seeing me take care of the turkeys. He's all about settling the score with Randy.

Not too worried about rigor. I am going to debone him and we will probably use him in enchiladas. Dave makes delicious enchiladas.

Yesterday, we built the "flume" for the water return into the pond. Right now, without a pump and the rest of the Skippy Filter built, a garden hose stuck into the outlet provides a look at what it might look like in operation, once complete. The horse trough/Skippy Filter is on a platform and surrounded by redwood fence boards.

Nice and rustic, "Gold Country" kinda look, doncha think? I absolutely love it!

The turkeys have arrived (as well as 8 tennessee red quail, a trio of toulousse & a new black scovy hen.)

That would have been "Stupid's" fate had he not been a game roo. Now we have a plan to do away with our other mean RIR roo Red. He's going to be replaced by Tripp the HRIR once he's old enough to breed.

Settling the score for me was watching him slide around in the pet carrier on the way to the feed store.
