Yes, which is a nice segue to....I never explained my user name. Its so boring I'm not even going to bore you with the story, except to say that because I knew what it meant, it never occurred to me how it would be read by others. More than one person has assumed I was a guy because they thought it was "he-chicken". Last time I looked, I'm not a dude

I've thought a lot about changing it. But a) I've submitted so many posts under this user name by now that I think it might confuse some people and b) the name I really want to use, I can't because I've used it all over the web and found that an ex is using it to cyber stalk me and I don't want him to find me here, and I can't think of something that describes me better (that's how I ended up with the current user name in the first place). Hey - maybe I should make that the next contest - "Help HEChicken choose a new user name and win......something".

Has anyone tried to delete over 8000 emails before, let me tell you it is time consuming, I just want my email addy back and the junk mail keeps coming, one when giving your email add never ever leave any boxes checked at the bottom, everyone and there brother sends you #$$#
It is extremely hard to keep up on it, when unsubscribe to one 5 more come been working on this for over 1 1/2 hours

One observation I've had with mine....This is my first time with poults as I obtained my breeding pair as 4-month-olds. I had always heard how stupid poults are and how difficult at times to get started, so I was a little nervous about raising the first ones, and thrilled when the timing worked out to allow my broody hen to raise them. Since she has both chicken chicks and poults in one big brood, it has been interesting to observe the differences between them.

Chickens' natural tendency is to peck, so when the hen wants the young to eat, she calls them over, shows them where to peck, and they peck in that spot and find food. So, at first, every time she called them over for food, the 3 chicks immediately started eating while the poults stood there and looked around. I've now observed, they are waiting for dinner to be served. Fortunately, my Aloha hen somehow guessed what they are waiting for, and started picking food up in her beak, then lowering her head to the poults, who immediately pecked the food off her beak. Initially they wouldn't peck at the ground or the feeder, but ate off her beak every time. Once she had them established eating this way, they suddenly realized the same stuff is in the feeder, and now they are the first to the feeder in the morning when I let them out, and eat with gusto.

I suspect that turkey hens do more feeding of their young, as opposed to chicken hens, who simply show their young where the food is. That may be why they are harder to get started in the brooder. It also made me nervous about the turkey eggs I currently have in the incubator. I never got around to setting tutors for the CdM hatch, but I also filled another incubator with turkey eggs last Friday. Today is the perfect day to set some tutors for them and I'm seriously considering doing that now. As for the CdM hatch....well, I'm going to hope a friend of mine has some chicks she can loan or sell me as tutors.

Depending on who you use for your email...if it is one of the internet servers like yahoo or gmail, there is a box you can check at the top that will check all the boxes at once for you. Then, when you delete, you delete that whole page, so don't have to do it one by one. With gmail, if you select a bunch to delete, after it is done deleting, it will display a little message at the top of the page asking if you want it to find and delete all messages that match the group you just deleted. If you say yes to that, it will look at your entire inbox and delete every matching message. I've done some big deletes this way and it works pretty flawlessly.

If you are using a computer based email like Thunderbird or Outlook, you can generally click on the top message, then hold down the shift key and click on the last, and it will highlight and delete that whole group in one hit too. hth.

Yep. Been there, done that. Got a new e-mail account to get rid of the mess.

My little turkey died

Probably my fault as I didn't check on him since it was eating and drinking with some other chicks. I think it got stuck between wall of brooder and eco-glo This is the second time it's happened

I am so sorry!

I have on Rubber Made brooder where that has happened. I put the top of an egg carton on one side between the eco glow ant the side of the brooder to fill in the space. The other brooder is narrower so they do not get stuck with that one.
