He's actually just as bad if not worse than I am. I went from about 60 birds this winter to now close to 300 (we've even sold a bunch & have 19 meaties to butcher in the next 3 weeks) with about 250 or so eggs in 3 bators & letting me get a 4th bator. Good thing there's a swap meet coming up on the 17-18th.

Well, I am saddened to say, the little pipped one didn't make it. I wish I had intervened yesterday. I was sick all day, so I watched from home. Now I wish I had run into town when I was first getting worried. The poor baby was totally shrinkwrapped, as was one other one I found that had pipped on the down side of the egg and I hadn't seen it... One other had never pipped and was dead in the shell, probably for a day or two based on the amount of fluid still in the shell. Another one had zipped and was glued, so I assisted, and she is currently out and getting her legs under her. The last one had pipped, but given what I had found with the others, I opened the pip a bit, and sure enough, the membrane was all dry and working on shrinkwrapping. I think I got to her on time. I took part of her shell off, wet down the rest of the membrane, wrapped her in wet paper towel and put her back. She seems strong, she is peeping and working on figuring out how to get the rest of the way out... 3 out of 6 that made it to lockdown... Not exactly the hatch I was hoping for... But it's better than none. Hoping I have better luck with the 7 RP eggs I set yesterday.

I thought I'd post a couple pix of my recent hatch
Here are my 2 GL Brahmas

The group as a whole: I love how the female Creme Legbar looks as if she is already telling the boy CL what to do.

That would be the chipmunk by the water standing over the grey chick with the spot on his head.

The black chick off to the side is my mystery chick. (S)he came from a brown spotted egg from my neighbor's house. He only keeps games like Asil, Ganoi, Sweater, Hatch, Shamo, Flarry Eye...No idea what this chick is...except CUTE!

Some of my Easter chicks. Mostly Brown Leghorn, Blue Andalusian, and Marans

Hola!

So far I have a dozen various poults, and I'm run ragged at the moment or I'd post pics. Sadly, I had one that naturally hatched and looked quite healthy, but upon holding all of them at once, I thought it had curled feet...then I realized it had one toe on one foot and two on the other...and its ankles turned out to the side, like a crab. It was otherwise healthy and perfect in appearance, but it was not going to ever be able to stand or function, so I had to have hubby send it to Heaven. That sucked.

I still have more pips, so I'm waiting to get a tally.

In other news, my Bourbon Red hen Scarlett has gone broody, so I'm putting the 4 pea eggs I've collected under her with the 2 eggs she nabbed yesterday. I have decided the Slate is in the woods broody, because she came back yesterday and then was missing again. I'm going to have to follow her to get her and keep her safe. There are TONS of coyotes around and nothing makes it for long unprotected.

Just catching up with everyone. I just had to skip to the end of the thread because there is no way I can read all the posts. HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!! I have eight hatched so far. The first pip was Friday evening when SCG and I got back to Stockton from Bryce and Zion. Still catching up with the laundry and a few other chores. I had to go out and get four tutors at the feed store yesterday because of the high temps in the bator "cooking" my tutor eggs. The tutors are about a week old and about the same size as the poults. It is so adorable watching the poults trying to get under the chicks to snuggle.

Since I skipped over pages of posts, I hope everyone else's hatch is going really well and

to anyone who's hatch is not.
BTW - if anyone ever needs an "adventure buddy" SCG is your gal! We had an awesome time, got over a thousand pictures (and that was just me, she probably got more than that) I am a bit sore and a bit tired but it was worth every minute. The hikes were awesome. She even talked me into doing Angel's Landing. Seriously crossed that off my "bucket list" on Friday!

DiDi's also a great adventure buddy. She's a calm, dedicated hiker, that is not scared by anything.

That being said, I'm pretty sure the only "talking into" on Angels Landing was her continuously telling me I wasn't going to die on the sheer cliff with chains bolted in for support for what seemed like 3 hours. She was very patient with me. And I didn't die.

She was even brave enough to let go and take a picture.

The view was worth it, though.

That hike started from the canyon floor... it was fun!

I'll spare y'all the rest of my 1200 vacation photos.

Great pictures! Good job getting up that chain assisted cliff!

The only way I could get through 1200 pictures would be if there was a chocolate cake involved. I can make it through a lot of things if Cake is involved.....
