**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Definitely an Ameraucana. Hatched from the same big blue egg as the blackish gray Am. Has just a hint of grayish to the legs. Big and gorgeous! Poofy cheeks and all. I'm trying to post a pic, but the upload keeps failing. Hopefully some time tonight.
OMG!! I want a splash!!!! I can't wait to see pics. blackish grey? That should still be blue I guess, but ......well, my roo is dark blue and my girls are too, so I guess that makes sense. But I had no idea I could get a splash out of them. Learn something new everyday. LOL

Time for the geese.

The whole gang.

African gander

Chinese gander

Chinese stretching after his bath

George (American) knows he is my favorite

He has a hole in his head, you can see in one nostril and right out the other side if you look carefully, LOL

I have lots of pictures of him chewing on the camera strap.

Who's behind me???
Beautiful!!

My humidity is WAY too high with all the chicks hatching. 80%! + the windows have condensation. I've opened the lid a few times but it makes the temps drop too in the 95/96 range and I still have a few eggs left to hatch.

I have 8 chicks hatched with 9 and 10 on the way out of 15 eggs. The chicks aren't fluffing up like they should they all still look wet.

95/96 will be fine, it will go back up. And with the humidity so high, it's better to be slightly cooler.

Good luck with finishing up your hatch.

Went out to check on the broody and she was no longer on the eggs and they were cold. I took the two that I thought had hope and put them in the bator, just for kicks but I'll be removing them Tuesday if they haven't hatched.

So. no naked necks for me.

BUT.. the broody is being very attentive to the 14 Dellies and 1 SLW sent to me by KathyinMo.

Those Dellies just run everywhere and she keeps calling them back... good mama.

I thought I had another broody today, but alas, she's off the eggs. I'm hoping she get's broody before the 18.

I candled the 28 eggs I had in the bator and I'm now down to 25. Removed one blue, one brown and one Aloha.

Hola!

So far I have a dozen various poults, and I'm run ragged at the moment or I'd post pics. Sadly, I had one that naturally hatched and looked quite healthy, but upon holding all of them at once, I thought it had curled feet...then I realized it had one toe on one foot and two on the other...and its ankles turned out to the side, like a crab. It was otherwise healthy and perfect in appearance, but it was not going to ever be able to stand or function, so I had to have hubby send it to Heaven. That sucked.

I still have more pips, so I'm waiting to get a tally.

In other news, my Bourbon Red hen Scarlett has gone broody, so I'm putting the 4 pea eggs I've collected under her with the 2 eggs she nabbed yesterday. I have decided the Slate is in the woods broody, because she came back yesterday and then was missing again. I'm going to have to follow her to get her and keep her safe. There are TONS of coyotes around and nothing makes it for long unprotected.
Tis the season for broodies . . . . I have too many!!

The view was worth it, though.

That hike started from the canyon floor... it was fun!

Just gorgeous.

Of course I didn't need any convincing to hike "Hoodooville"

Very impressive. THank you both for sharing.
Love the vacation pics!

What a great weekend! Yesterday was the annual swap/meeting for okies on the byc. Today I have two poults out, and 2 pipped (one on wrong end though). Then went to get eggs from my layer flock and lost several layers of skin to my spitzhauben. I have a broody! Made up the broody pen and put her in. If she takes to that she will get to raise some chickies!

Fourth tutor chick is out.

Come ON, Turkeys!

This is THE first Hatch in which I have started to hover over the incubator.

A couple of days ago, I lost the BBB hen I purchased as a potential partner for last year's CdM solo surviving poult. I suddenly discovered her with a horrendously prolapsed vent and could not save her. Felt like an absolutely terrible flock mistress and really wasn't able to talk about it until today.

Of course, she was my favorite and friendliest turkey hen. Sarge, the MW tom will miss her too - she was his favorite turkey stand. If'n you know what I mean...
Sorry, Linda, for the loss of the BBB---not your fault.
hugs.gif

I'm sorry for your loss, Linda.

BF had to take care of my Ginger while I was gone. Wish I could have said goodbye.
SCG-- sorry to hear about GInger.

Okay, I just took all the baby waterfowl for a bath and a graze on the lawn. I need to sort through the 100+ photos I took, but in the meantime, here is some ducky cuteness for you.

One of the call ducks I just hatched out
love.gif

THe cuteness!!
love.gif

I SO want call ducks. The first I hatched were at the house I rented before I bought this place and moved up here. I had chickens, a Cayuga pair and four calls. My landlady had a "thing" about ducks (although she loved and had geese) and she made me re-home the calls after a predator got the Cayuga duck on her nest. That is the reason I went looking for a house in the first place...

I brought a call pair with me but the duck disappeared, leaving Elvis with all the Cayugas. He has taken a Cayuga wife though - they are such a cute couple.

I do wish the female calls weren't so loud.... But I would so love a flotilla of call ducks for the new pond....
THat's why I have muscovy .
wink.png
THe noise from the turkeys and the chickens is bad enough.

The humidity refuses to go above 35% and I don't want to open the bator. SilkieSensation told me that the humidity should be at 40% for the quail to hatch. I guess it's time to go find something to add water with. I can't wait until they start hatching!

I haven't checked in on the broody yet, but considering the fact that I checked on them around 3 I think it's safe to say I might have at least one chick hatched. I'm going to check on them in a bit and give a count on what's hatched so far.
