Second best feed after Mazuri?

I don't buy hay just for the geese. What ever i have for the horses is what they get. I typically feed grass and alfalfa hays. Sometimes it's cereal grain hays. I'll offer both and refill the one they eat. They prefer fine stem immature hays just as horses do. Sweet smelling alfalfa with lots of leaves is their current favorite but at other times they only want grass. Buy one bale of the nicest finest stem hay you can. Should be sweet smelling with minimal dust. Some discoloration on the outside of the bale is inconsequential. That's just sun bleaching or a light rain.

Thanks so much for the info @Percheron chick! I'm going to pick some up next time I'm at the feed store.

@Goosebaby, have your geese always liked pumpkin and apples? I've tried all kinds of veggies and fruits with my guys, but I can't get them to eat anything except lettuce/greens... I would think the varied diet is very nutritious. You can buy Mazuri on Chewy now too - I might try buying from them, as it's a couple dollars cheaper than my feed store ordering it. 11 geese must be so much fun! I only have 2 so it's pretty cheap to feed them.

Geese are picky eaters so not everyone likes everything, they’re also really suspicious of new things, sometimes they’re only willing to try something new if they’ve seen someone else try it first, the older geese I couldn’t get to eat pumpkin for years, but I got the babies to try it, now everyone’s eating it.

I feed Kings Brand waterfowl pellets. Been using it for years. I am in central California and it is milled just south of me. It is what Metzer farms uses. Great stuff, and only $16 a bag.

Oh man, I was just telling my husband something similar lol it's like the ducks are the guinea pigs for the geese. If they eat it then it must be safe & not out to get them 🙃
