I was told by so many people, both in person and on google, that only the dominant roo gets to crow. Well my husband has sworn that he has heard my bantam buddy crowing. I didn’t believe him. Today I heard it for myself. I have three cockerels. Fuzzy (the guy in charge), Lil Chi (Fuzzys second), and Monster who is new to the flock. Lil Chi is my bantam buddy and he has started crowing with Fuzzy. Well right after him. I know crowing can be territorial and I don’t want them to come to blows. Can they crow together and live together? They have lived together for about two and a half months now.

Good to know. So far as I’ve seen they get along. I just didn’t expect anyone else to crow since I was told otherwise. I know my roo to hen ratio is off but this spring I’m going to fix that. Getting more ladies.

I have a three different breeds. There are several birds of each breed, and all three breeds have different characteristic crows.

Only one rooster from each breed crows. But that means I have three roosters who crow, usually at different times.

So I should probably expect Monster to crow when he’s ready. He’s a light Brahma, 3 months old, and already half the size of Fuzzy, who is 6 months. He is going to live up to his name.
Boy am I glad my neighbors like chickens and grew up on farms. 😅
