Second opinion - Roosters?

I agree with @Sloane Chickens on this. I think they're probably all boys, but the blue one in the first post and the white one in the run are giving me pause.

The blue one has a pale enough comb and I can't actually make out any male saddle feathers but I'm getting roo vibes. Probably just a slower maturing male.

The white one doesn't appear to have male saddle feathers either but the comb is awfully red for a 14 week old pullet. But some of the production breeds can start laying as early as 16 weeks. If it's part leghorn though it could be a fast maturing pullet.

If you can, I would consider holding on to those two until they become obviously male or female (crowing or lay an egg)

Yeah - I think that is the way we will probably go.

From the boys we're definitely going to keep the black one (Raven). He was jet black when he hatched but he's now developing the most gorgeous petrol blue sickle feathers.

We have two boys from our first hatch - both from the Leghorn and very much take after her. The biggest one has the most gorgeous display of feathers coming in who I wouldnt mind keeping, along with the ginger and black and white one but its just not practical.

Technically we have the space but practically could never have enough hens to keep them all happy. We could look at a small bachelor flock but we like to let them freerange, so don't think that would work either as it would be difficult to keep them away from the hens.

The other option is set them up as four or five small flocks.

My original roo (Dave) and his four girls.
Then the other four either as four seperate flocks with three or four girls each or two flocks with 10 girls each.

Might be difficult with freeranging but we are entering avian flu season so could lockdown for the winter which should give the flocks time to establish before letting them freerange in the spring maybe?
