Second order of ducks in today...

Hes using a red heatbulb, They use the infrared and red spectrum of light to make the most heat with as little of the blue/white spectrum as possible. So it doesnt effect their sleep cycles

But as a fun fact you need to read the box, some red bulbs are for warming in the food industry and have a teflon coating that can harm animals when the bulb heats up. always read the box!

I lost two this evening. The rest were running around eating and drinking fairly energetic. Looked much better tonight after those died. They were both smaller like they werent growing. The rest seem to be growing fast. I watched one run its ass off around the brooder, aint seen that kind of energy until tonight..

Hopefully I dont loose more of anything. Hopefully the weaking die off is over now. Id like to grow out what I got now both duck and chick wise...

Ill be much happier when we are out of this baby stage. I forgot how much work this is/time it takes up cuz I sit and watch them..

I hope this dying is over too. Sounds like they are doing much better.
Morning update?

Two ducks died yesterday evening. Two ideal 236 pullets died last night... which sucks. I hate to loose my egg layer chicks.

I honestly thought they were all good to go after yesterday evening.

I honestly think the ducks have issues from the hatchery. 90 degrees for 2 day old ducks should be fine, chicks 95 degrees. Of course the chicks are fine at 90 too. The ducklings being this latargic over 45 duckling and dying so bad only really leaves shipping issues or health issues.

I didnt order crested ducks.
I'm catching up/reading through the thread now.

95 is just too hot.
