i have one last question before i go to bed, i read that when they are injured they tend to feel the cold more, should i put her under a heat lamp?

No.
She will be fine.

What you might want to think about is getting rid of that male for now.


He will probably continue to over mate the two females and keep causing damage.

I can add in one or two more females on Friday, maybe that'll stop him from overmating, he doesn't seem aggressive at all, I think it's just that there's too few females

If you have more adults then for sure add a few more females.
I have to say that I have heard that adding females can turn ugly for a while too though.

I haven't yet had to mix any birds and I have been planning ahead so I don't have to do this.
I am sure I will eventually have to mix some of mine up though... I am not looking forward to it.

I have 3 adult quails in total due to the terrible hatch rate of the batch before the one this thread talks about, 1 male and two females. I'm planning on putting all the chicks together with the adult ones when they reach sexual maturity. I have a big aviary (2×2×2 meters) so space shouldn't be a problem, I could house up to 40 birds in that

Going back to the chicks again, I think imI gonna be able to feather sex them in a few days, they are 1 week and a half and they already have all the feathers on the back and sides, they are just starting to get the chest feathers, and from what I can see there seems to be an abundance of females, which is exactly what I was looking for

Right so, about the adult ones, the injured bird has healed up pretty good, she just needs to regrow the feathers a little bit. Tomorrow my mum's going to go down to the market to pick up another two females (took 20 mins to tell her how to discern males and females lol) and I'll move them all to a bigger enclosure. As soon as the chicks reach sexual maturity I will move them all outside in the giant aviary (still setting it up, I just gotta add some plants and fill a corner with sand and add the nest box, it'll be so cool ahhah)

alright, i've got somewhat of a weird question ahahah, i had 3 rescued chickens come in today, an adult white polish rooster (so pretty omg, i swear i've never seen a rooster as pretty as him ahaha) and two 1-2 months old polish-silkie mix chicks. the big rooster is in a cage indoors for tonight since i will introduce him to the hens tomorrow. I have no other cages left, so i had to put the two chicks together with the injured quail (she is fine now, just regrowing feathers). my question is, will it work out in the long run? they are pretty much the same size as the quail and as of rn they seem to get along pretty well, otherwise tomorrow i'll move them in the cage where the rooster is right now.)
