Second try at hatching quails! (This time I'm sharing the whole experience with you!)

Oh yes I forgot to add that i built them a 2*2 meters cage (50ft square) and made it super comfortable, they look so happy!!! I will upload some pics.

Thanks!

When will you be setting your own eggs?
:D
I actually don't know! Ahah, I need to plan this, since if I do it I can't then put the chicks together with the parents, plus the incubator will be busy for some time, (13th day of goose eggs incubation ), so yeah I want to do it eventually, maybe after the summer at the end of the breeding season, we'll see :)

Can you get them some potted plants or some fake plants to hide in?
Fake greenery works well.

Yeah, good idea I will get them some fake plants in the dirt bath pile :), you cant see it in the pics but I have a big plastic box In the back with hay in it for them to hide/sleep into, I will be sure to add some plants soon tho.

I stick fake plants in my wire walls close to the ground...they love to hid under them.

hmm, sorry for resurrecting this thread, but i need a little help. i was filling up the feeders today when i saw one of my males had a swollen head on one side, below the eye, towards the neck. It has a small red spot in the center, can it be some kind of insect sting or a peck from another quail? I've seen them fight, but it was never really prolonged, just a few pecks as in "get outta my way", but never something too serious. I am excluding it being a swollen head syndrome, because the quail is completely normal and has no fluids leaking out of the eye, also the mouth seems unscathed. I will post pics asap.
