Secret to hatching Marans

I've read about the sandpaper thing but I too find they take a few days longer sometimes and I have some from my own in the incubator to had in a few days all were good so I'll see if they all hatch too-shipping is the biggest problem with any eggs I second the idea of trying to find some in driving distance to hatch you'll have better luck.

Are you trying to hatch shipped eggs? What kind of bator do you have?
Yes, because of the thickness of the coating on the shell, it's harder for moisture to evaporated. The eggs have to be dry hatched meaning little to no water added to the incubator. Other wise moisture will remain and the chick will drown in the shell fully formed. They also take an extra day or two to hatch.
