Securing/Modifying a TSC Coop - Seeking Advice

ive had the coop two weeks and I don't think you need to make a huge time and money investment in getting plans for a diy coop as well as purchasing tools and materials if you don't already have them on hand. I live in the south with very few changes in seasons. No snow, a couple cold nights in the winter but that's it. The coop is in a heavily shaded area as the summer is hot. For me the coop works for right now. If you're a novice like I am modifying a version of this is a good idea. The coop is sturdy, far more sturdy than others I saw. It had good reviews on multiple sites as well. It does need to be reinforced but that can be done with wood and a drill or even an electric screw driver. Nothing too major. There isn't wire fencing on the bottom so the birds are not walking on that.

You can definitely try your hand at chickens without a three week construction project. Maybe try less birds though.

I have this exact coop. It's actually very sturdy. My TS had it set up in store as a model so I was able to see it before I bought it and I loved it. We're on uneven ground so nailing the wood to the bottom was a must and it also helped secure it. We also built a run to add on to the front and used cedar garden border nailed to the bottom.

The cedar fencing is now on both sides of the coop and goes all the way around. Chickens have also been added

I would recommend the coop tbh it's very sturdy and three of us put it together in about an hour. It's got a slide out tray for cleaning and lots of easy access to the sleeping area. The latches on the egg collection boxes are very sturdy as well. it may be good to get if u set it like these peeps did. they add to theres and put it where there more space an shelter. modify it some and get 3-4 chicks u be ok

I bought what's listed right now 3/30/2019 in their sales add as on sale for $199.99 and the construction is very poor and so is the quality, however there isna way to modify it and add some weight. On one side of the hen house portion you could add on to it there plus if you put it on 3 ft stilts you can extend the run down and out 3 ft by 4-6 ft. I'd rather have a deeper place for bedding in the hen house so I can deep mulch or litter whatever its called. I will have to staple the hardware cloth more and add locking devises where there are latches that came with the coop due coins around here. Ill have to paint and Polly urethane before it can be left in the weather as well. So by the time I finish is it worth $200.00? Don't think so!

We bought one but we use it as a brooder we keep in our 3seasons room and then we have a big coop outside for them.
