Seebie feather/genetics question

I bought 4 seebie eggs last year, 3 hatched. 1 goose (female) looks like the other seebies in shape, size, attitude, etc, but doesn't have a single curley feather. Does this happen in pure seebies or does it mean she is a cross? Obviously she isn't a good quality bird because of it but how does the curley genetics work? I know I have seen less curley and more curley birds in others' flocks, just never a totally flat feathered seebie.

Thanks in advance for any input!

If her feathers lift off her back in the wind, she probably is pure. The smooth Sebs happen quite often, and they still will produce curly offspring. It does not mean she is bad quality! My favorite goose is smooth, she only gets a few long trailing feathers in the summer, and with a smooth breasted curly, they have produced some all curly offspring. In 2 years of breeding they only produced one all smooth. A good way to avoid wing deformities is to breed smooth or smooth breasted Sebs to a curly breasted. This is common practice in Europe, and I've seen pics from Euro poultry shows showing pairs of one each. The other thing I like about my smooth is her VERY dense feathers, which she's passed on to her offspring. She is one big poof! As for the genetic part of it all it may depend on what the parents of your goose are.

I'll have to get a pic of my all smooth Sebbie, Petunia and post it for you. She's gorgeous! And she's from Holderreads. A full blooded Sebastopol but she's all smooth. I paired her up with my SQ Sebbie, Peter. This is their first year having babies and I'm looking forward to seeing what the babies look like.
