So I have 5 chicks, 2 australorps, 2 GL Wyandottes and 1 barred rock. They are all getting along fine, but the BR seems to be picking at all of the other chicks. She picks at their wings and occasionally around their vent area. What's the best way to stop this behavior before she does some serious harm to her brooder mates? Any ideas would be helpful.

Whoops! Wrong reply to wrong thread!! I'm subbing here, because one of my BR seems to be a bit of a pot stirrer.

I'm pretty new to all this, but isn't that just the way of the 'peeking order'? So long as she's not doing any really damage (breaking the skin) I think it is normal. If it doesn't seem 'normal' then maybe they are too crowded. That can be a cause for them to peck at each other. Right peeps....

Pecking order is normal, but once blood is drawn, it's not easy to stop, and can end up killing other chicks. In my case, I ended up culling the picker.
