I was at the Co-op today and they had some beautiful chicks called Segitas (I think that is the spelling). I bought three to put with my broody Cochin whose 2 chicks are a week old.
They are a cross between Barnvelders, Welsummers and RIR. Rich golden color with two darker stripes. My hen accepted them right away but I had to teach them what a hen was for! They didn't know they could run under her for warmth.
They are doing fine now; it's almost dark out and she is settled down for the night, all the chicks under her big fluffy body.
