The chicks have formed two groups in the brooder. The Barred Rocks vs. The Black Sexlinks. They huddle only with their kind....is this normal? They eat, drink and play together but sleep separate.

I've had this happen with young chicks. Older ones often form groups, too, though IME it hasn't been by breed.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as they are not pecking to the point of blood.

Ive had batches of chicks that were racist, and sexist! Lol
as long as they arnt harming each other its fine.

Chicks that hatched together will do that. "HATCH BUDDIES" I have all the same breed and they split up into groups sometimes. I call them The Chic Click, The Cool Chicks, and The Fat Chicks. The Chic click was the first to feed while the Cool Chicks would try to find an opening and sneek in while the fat chicks would just stand in the background and wait there turn

They don't pick on each other. The BSL were so little when they arrived with the BR from the hatchery, but they have more than caught up in just one week. I thought it was funny when I checked in on them and saw two groups.

When you hear music from "West Side Story" then worry.
