Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Hi everyone, Here are some chicks I hatched yesterday.
First chipmunks I ever hatched! Their daddy is a Black/Lav split that I bought from Elite Silkies awhile back.
The mom was either my Lav hen or a Black hen. Also hatched two chipmunk looking Lav colored chicks. Stripes not so noticeable!
Thought you might like to see them they are so cute!
I saw that Stephanie also had posted some just like this.....wonder what color they are now?
Any one have any grown chickens that started out like this and can share a pic please?
Thanks, Cheryl

ALL RIGHT!!! NOW we're talking! Lovely Silkie. I can only hope for some as good, thanks so much for the pics!
But how is this linked to Lavender? Or is it? I never had a chick like this till I started to use Lavender related birds.
Are these "chipmunks" usually considered Lav or Lav splits or what? One thing for sure they sure stand out!
Thanks again,
Cheryl

In my breeding of Lav/Lav gened silkies. The chipmunks have been the "splits" that feather out to be Blue (light version, ie Russian Blue Cat color) they also have been the one's when bred that have had straight Lav color chicks. I have also had solid Blacks out of the Lavs, though they have not had Chipmunking or leakage in color, that have gone on to have staright Lav chicks. That is what I have personally had in my lines.

Thanks so much for the information. I had read that it was impossible to tell the ones that were split or carried the Lav gene.
But these are so very different they are easy to tell from the others.
If they are splits...they sure are easy to tell from the non-splits.???
So these chicks will produce Lav but not "show" Lav themselves? Is that what you mean "straight Lav"?
Do they have just one Lav gene?
When bred to Lav will they have what percentage of Lav offspring?
Will they produce Lav if mated to another color?
Sorry for so many questions.

The Blue pullet is from that group of chicks. The Chipmunked one on the left.

So April, that one that was a chipmunk or partridge color on the left that feathered out to be blue (beautiful !!) is a split.
What color were the parents????

Thanks sonew123 and bacres. Name kinda fits:)Self blue apricot. And bacres not sure if you know, if you do I apologize, self blue is what the association would be looking for instead of lavender. Both the same. This issue has come up with lavender approval. Guessing because there are other breed variety with the self blue name that the hobby name lavender will not be used when they pass. Shame because the color really suits being called lavender:(
