Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Some of the splits I have hatched from my own birds (lav over black and lav over splits) has produced chicks with stripes like the partridge, but they are almost always faded somewhat. Not quite as bold as the chick in the picture. Any chance one of those splash looking chicks could be a lav sonoran?

Wish I could say I've hatched out lots of Lavs

Only time will tell I keep 4 of the chicks to see what I get. This test breeding is to help me decide if I am going to keep the adults. If they are throwing partridge and funky other colors I do not want to add them to my blue/splash pen, don't want funky colored birds. So a few more hatches and watching the young mature will decide thier fate. Looking as though I will just sell them off.

LOL yea I wanted to last year but I have let it go, no use letting it get to me. I now know what to ask and only buy from well known breeders. I also know what kind of breeder I don't want to be (knew that before this) Lesson learned!!!!!

Just a note of caution. There are very reputable lav breeders that have hatched weird colored birds from lav to lav breedings. Not everyone mentions it, but it is possible. And it is highly probable when breeding lav to blacks.

It's just genetics roulette!

Been there myself Trisha19. I have a very select few I buy from . It is true you can get some pretty funky coloured chicks from time to time. But if the breeding is correct (that should only be from time to time ) I'm not sure who you purchased from but I wish you the best of luck. Tammy
