Definitely not recommended to use the white hen. Black will improve things. Then breed back to the lavender parent.

I've got eggs but I don't have enough laying to collect for shipping. I thought my White Showgirl was fertile by Vegas, but I guess I goofed, now I have Whites split to Lavender in my bator!

As I have true Lavender Araucana birds hatching currently, can I get the Silkie feather gene into future generations without losing the Lavender? Was planning on using a hen bred with a Black Silkie roo? Or shall I get a black Silkie hen and keep a Lavender Araucana roo? There are no Lavender Silkies that I know of here, and would love to have a yard full of various breeds in Lavender colours? I understand the genetics surrounding the colour from this thread, but I know NOTHING about he Silkie feather gene... help please? PM me if you can help me out, I'm looking to add day olds in two weeks to go in with my hatching chicks.
