Puresilk I wouldn't be too upset about it.
I contacted George M two years ago about getting some lavenders and PI. He told me he couldn't sell anything until oct. and it was in march. That is way more then 3 weeks. I offer to put a down payment. But he assured me he would save me some birds.
Then when Oct rolled around I contacted him again. He said sorry but he had already sold all his extras.
And I reserved a year ahead. He said contact him again in a few months. A few weeks later a BYC'er made a topic showing off their new PIs they just got. I'm glad they got them. But I do have to admit I was a little hurt that he sold to them instantly when they asked when I had been waiting for a year. Then I find out a few months later he sold all his birds.
I about died.
I had saved for months. I had the cash in hand. I asked for pictures, any information, he just shrugged me off.
Bren is probably just a busy person. I would just wait. Really 3 weeks isn't that long.
But I do really understand. The entire deal with George M made me not want to buy silkies from him.
Then other people say oh George M was so helpful, so nice.. ect. I'm not bashing him in any way. We all know his birds are to die for. But as my personal experience it did not go well.
That wasn't my only disappoint getting birds either. I find not to get your heart set on anything until you own them, and they are locked up in your own coop. Even then be cautious. I can't even count how many silkies I've lost after they have gotten to me.
Just remember how you feel now. And try to bring that into your own breeding and selling.
As for me. If I ever sell a $100+ bird, and it dies when it gets there. You better believe I would send a replacement. Even if you don't have anymore hens to give up, send chicks or eggs. Something so they can at least get a bird.
But really. I'm sure Bren isn't doing this on purpose, or being mean. She sounds like a nice lady from what I have heard. Everyone is busy. Don't give up yet.
