Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Puresilk I wouldn't be too upset about it.

I contacted George M two years ago about getting some lavenders and PI. He told me he couldn't sell anything until oct. and it was in march. That is way more then 3 weeks. I offer to put a down payment. But he assured me he would save me some birds.

Then when Oct rolled around I contacted him again. He said sorry but he had already sold all his extras.

And I reserved a year ahead. He said contact him again in a few months. A few weeks later a BYC'er made a topic showing off their new PIs they just got. I'm glad they got them. But I do have to admit I was a little hurt that he sold to them instantly when they asked when I had been waiting for a year. Then I find out a few months later he sold all his birds.

I about died.

I had saved for months. I had the cash in hand. I asked for pictures, any information, he just shrugged me off.

Bren is probably just a busy person. I would just wait. Really 3 weeks isn't that long.

But I do really understand. The entire deal with George M made me not want to buy silkies from him.

Then other people say oh George M was so helpful, so nice.. ect. I'm not bashing him in any way. We all know his birds are to die for. But as my personal experience it did not go well.

That wasn't my only disappoint getting birds either. I find not to get your heart set on anything until you own them, and they are locked up in your own coop. Even then be cautious. I can't even count how many silkies I've lost after they have gotten to me.

Just remember how you feel now. And try to bring that into your own breeding and selling.

As for me. If I ever sell a $100+ bird, and it dies when it gets there. You better believe I would send a replacement. Even if you don't have anymore hens to give up, send chicks or eggs. Something so they can at least get a bird.

But really. I'm sure Bren isn't doing this on purpose, or being mean. She sounds like a nice lady from what I have heard. Everyone is busy. Don't give up yet.

I am not in any way bashing her, but if that is how she does business, it is pretty shoddy, and that reflects on all other aspects of her way of doing business. She told me she has 5 cockerels I could pick form and 2 buff hens but I cant come get them for at least 3 weeks? I have plans to be out of town the first of june, already made reservations on a vacation I am taking with my wife. I am sure she isnt being mean, but as was stated before, if you are in the business of selling, you accomodate the buyer not yourself. I have NEVER told someone I couldnt meet them, when I had something to sell. If I did, I would figure the person would not come back. And guess what, I wont be, lol...apparently she does enough good business to not worry about things like that....

I understand your not bashing her.

I'm just saying. Maybe you can be patient and wait a little longer. I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed. Perhaps she just has a lot going on.

Back in the summer when I got heart surgery if I had been selling birds. I would of told them to wait 3 weeks too.

Maybe she doesn't feel good, or life is crazy. You just never know.

Either way. I wish you luck in finding some good birds. They are hard to come by.

*Goes backs to lurking*

I dont know, maybe after venting a little I might decide to just wait...if I dont find anythign between then and now, gonna be going to a big chicken swap in versailles missouri, hopin to find a few nice birds there....

If Bren says she's got something going on and she needs to wait then you can take it to the bank that something is going on that has set her back.

Unless she's willing to share what that business or time consuming thing is with you then just sit back and be patient even though I know that's difficult. I won't discuss her beyond what I've said but just try to accept that sometimes things do happen that no one has any control over.

I got to spend several days with her, she is one of those people that will help before its asked for.

we'll see....thanks for the opinions though, I am 1/4 irish and it has been known to get the better of me, lol....

I understand where you are coming from, I have been in contact with so many people looking for more birds and alot of people never get back to me. Or write me once and nothing after that. The only problem for wanting Lavender is their are not alot of other people that are breeding/or have some for sale. Atleast with the other color of silkies there are a ton of breeders. I would not burn your bridges, or it may be long while till you get your lavenders. Alot of people want them and would be willing to wait. Best of luck to you.
