Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I assure you that Bren is an awesome lady, and so helpful when it comes to Silkies. It's worth the wait. She is very busy with her job and the birds. She also, broke her arm last year in several different places after being kicked, and still hasn't quite gotten over that yet. It still bothers her and makes taking care of her birds a bit harder now.

Trust me, her birds are worth the wait

Kinder, I am sorry you had such a bad experience with George. I talked to him almost 3 hours one day, and he too is a very nice man. I just couldn't afford his birds.

Not sure what happened with the selling the of PI's, but he too offered me a pair. He didn't sell all of his birds, he still has all of his breeders. He just sold all the extras that he decided not to keep.

But, Sunshine Silkies has some awesome whites, so I ended up getting my Cockerel from her and I couldn't be more pleased. Very nice bird and excellent quality little guy!

Also, AHappyChick is starting to hatch out some PI's/Isabel chicks, so she might start selling some pairs soon. You might want to contact her.

I agree with robin416 if she had to cancell I am sure there is a very good reason for it. I have had to postpone various deals as well once it was cocci and I wanted them all treated before I sold them and other times hatches did not go s planned or a predator ate one. Her birds are certainly worth the wait. Its hard with animals once your mind is set that you are going to have them or once you start really "needing" them.

oh and KinderKorner I am sorry that happened to you I would have not taken it nearly as gracefully as you did I am sure. if it makes you feel any better I am usually a very unlucky person.

I've known Brenda for some years, and she is a totally awesome person who will do whatever she can to accommodate and encourage everyone. She has a full-time job; she doesn't make her living selling chickens. She e-mailed me this morning a bit concerned that she couldn't get with you as soon as you wanted. She has out-of-town company this weekend and will be legitimately tied up herself for more than a week after that.

You need to be patient. If she were a big commercial breeder, it might be different, but she's not. And her birds are truly fabulous--you'll see when you meet her.

George also is an awesome person. I've visited with him at two different shows in Shawnee; bought a pair of gorgeous blue partridge silkies from him at the first one. George was on oxygen all the time at Shawnee this last year and still more than willingly spent a great deal of time answering questions and giving advice. He and his wife are both very nice people. George's birds are so in demand it must be hard to keep straight who wants what and when.

Well..they were hatching eggs from someone else so I can't be sure. And ya...there seems to be bits of yellow??? I have to get it back out though...I see that in the picture but didn't notice when I was holding it

Blues often have a bit of yellow in their down; as do blacks.

I don't know of any breeders of quality birds who make their living selling birds. Some breed and sell more than others, but for virtually all of us, it is a hobby, not a business. Sales may help support the hobby, but there are probably very few who actually have a positive net income from their sales.

I have some from a breeder and I don't no what the parents are but was wondering what ya all thought. I was told it was from a bbs pen. Also if someone could refresh me on the 4 toe problem. You want to cull these yes???
Thanks!!
