Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Happychick- Good luck with him!

I'lll have a ton of Lavs for the Fall. I hatched out over a dozen 2 days ago. There must be 50 lav chicks in the grow out pens! As well as a bunch of IP's. I've been trying to go through and weed out some birds, a bunch of REALLY nice spilt birds outside now. URGH! How to get down the stock can be fustrating! Then there is the full incubator to deal with! It is like an endless sea of Fluff!

Hope everyone else's birds are doing well!

Im so jealous! I won't have lavs until late fall-I do hope I have a broody them too!!!

I've been lucky in that I've been hatching some nice lavenders out of a lav cockerel and split pullets. The lav cockerel has a bit more wattle than I like, and seems a bit pinched in the tail, but the split hens are very nice, wide backed, good crests, good skin/eye color, and I can now confidently say the lav chicks are going to provide me with some AOC's to show. The oldest are a couple months now and after selling the culls I still have some nice prospects. Waiting to see if any get any miscoloration as they mature, and waitin to see how they fill out.

Oops, forgot to ask- anyone know which show they are trying to get the Lav color accepted into the standard at?

It is a nice color on a silkie. Type isn't quite as good as on some of the whites, but getting there.

Very, very nice lavender (pair?) silkies.
C'mon, share, where did you get them and how old are they?
