Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

It only took 5 1/2 hours! Come on you know you want to join me for the next round!

I will when the lavs hatch:) My poor black splits free ranged all Spring and Summer so they have alot of feather damage:-( But they are happy fat healthy bug filled birdies:)

I had the silkies in temp wire pens to dry yesterday. They didn't move from their spots for hours. Poor things, they NEVER go outside, free range is not an option for them. But they sort of free range in the safety of my horse stalls. At least that is something, I guess.

If I showed it wouldnt be an option either..But I just love watching them sunbath and enjoying outside even though it trashes their feathers-especially the toe feathers I want to cry because I know what they looked like until they are about 12-14 weeks old-then they go out to play for 4 -5 months and get trashed:-( So by the time they have Wintered over-they have grown back and then get trashed all over again-I dont sell eggs at all in Summer too busy but come Fall and Winter I sell eggs to pay for their extra non free ranging feed costs-skyrockets!

Oh tell me about the feed costs! We go through a bag of Flock Raiser every other day, not included the Duck Grower & Layena!

Yep, its for our senior trip

I'm so excited! If you have a lavender or porcelain cockerel forsale this fall, I'd be interested in one. Plus I'd like to pick your brain on what to breed for in the porcelains since I'm a hands-on learner

Wow our "senior trip" was the cop-out day to the lake. LOL I'll keep you posted on what developes here on the cock front. I finally have an awesome porcelain cock with great color. He is developing nicely so hopefully he will be at the shows later on.

Would love to see your porcelain cock. I've seen few except my own and a picture of one other. So far mine are beautiful, but they look like splashes with just a dusting of buff. I know someone else who says he has finally gotten cocks in the same pattern as the hens, but I haven't seen them yet.

I know the answer now, thanks

Let me second this question: WHERE IS EVERYONE GETTING THEM??????????

I've been looking and e mailing and searching high and low but can't find any. So if this is a Secret Society with a secret handshake and encrypted passwords.........JUST LET US IN!

Well my society isn't too secret but when you need about 50 good quality birds to show this year to work on standards then you tend to hang on to them until you are real sure you can offer some. I will have cockerels and probably and a few pullets along with straight run chicks BUT I have to get a good fix on Ohio and Shawnee shows. I have saved all my emails and will contact folks in the order of the emails to see who might want some. Showing and standards come first for now. It is still too warm for me to ship but it won't be long. I will continue to hatch lavenders all winter. They are actually my best layers.

Picture didn't turn out too clear because cage was back in the sun. I didn't get to choose the space.

GREAT!!!! I love my lines winning! It is just as exciting to have someone else win with my birds. Are you thinking about going to Shawnee in December? Sure will be a nice show and you can bring lavenders to help with the standards display.

I love the porcelains, they are my Fav right now. I have to admit I like them more than the Lavs.
