So sorry for your loss! If you want any splits, I'd be willing to give up a few of mine so you won't have to start over with eggs! Hope you feel better today!

Awww.... That is so sweet, thank you! I couldn't just take those without a trade of some sort. THey are so valuable. I have a broody on some Lav eggs right now, they are 100% lav from Bren's line. If I get a good hatch, I would be willing to trade. I would like to have a split or two to help with any color issues that may arise.

So, if you would be interested in a trade?

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your sympathy and understanding. This has been a terrible situation. While I know rationally accidents happen, I pride myself on being a good chicken mom. Next to my kids and DH the chickens are my favorite thing to come home too. I just love them! It really tore me up that I had such a brain fart.
Unfortunately the dog is now on a role, she does nothing but try to go for the chickens now.

I decided to let her go live at my parents, I cant heart keeping her or the chickens constantly caged or confined.
That was another heartbreaking decision as we have had this dog for close to 9 years. I'm just glad my parents said they would take her so we can all still see her.

Thanks Again for your warm thoughts and sympathy

Since this thread has drawn so much interest in Lavenders I want to share this. ABA has posted a poll on their home page gathering opinions on preference for self blue vs lavender. We are hoping they can be recognized into standards as just that, Lavender...well actually this can apply to all lavender breeds of birds not just silkies. We are planning to submit them to ABA in Ohio this November and Shawnee for APA in December. It has been a very long but rewarding journey.

Deb and I prefer LAVENDER to self blue since Lavender is the genetic name for our silkies. http://www.bantamclub.com/site/
