They already think I am nuts with all these chickens!

My mom saw one of the silkies and told me that was not a chicken!

Already bought my presents

....a new set of pots under the tree ......4 doz silkie eggs for the 'bator (which was late getting here and the 4 extras sent were broke - a LOT are scrambled or have detached air cells-first time ever a problem with the USPS and shipped eggs

)....waiting on my legband order to arrive for my stocking - if it gets here great, if not then that is OK too..and a nice black 7-8 month old pullet

. I could include my lavender roo but I got him in Oct/Nov so won't count him

My parents give money so that will get a book - maybe both

DH's dad tells me to get whatever I want - so that is the other book

But it would not get here by Christmas.

Birthday is in May - already am on list for that present too

So I just had my first hatch from my Lav showgirl pen!!!! I ended up with 2 Lav silkies, 2 lav SGs, 1 black split SG, and 1 black split silkie. YAY!!!

In this pen I had a Lavender SG roo over a lav silkie hen, and 2 black split silkie hens. My question is...out of the three lavs one has lighter features including it's beak. I have been told that Lav X lav breedings produce the lighter features, and black split x lav are the ones who hatch with the darker features. Is this a reliable way to determine if this was a chick from my lav hen and not one of the splits?
