I emailed the seller about this chick. Hopefully she gets back to me soon with some answers

She is a pretty chick but if theres other colors present....I have no use for her unless I can throw her in my BBS pen. I will not use her with Lavs, and I don't have another pen to put her in. So if I can't put her in my BBS pen, I'll have to sell her.

All of my lavs are from Bren/Deb's lines, and all of the lav chicks hatch out self blue with very muted lav and lighter lav stripes. They are all lavs. The "mutts" like your darker one are splits. They'll feather out silver partridge (gray), but when mated back with a "pure" lav or with each other, should produce some lavs. When bred back to a pure lav, the babes will all be either lav or splits carrying the lav gene. My lav/black split babes have all been a very bright black with NO white. Those splits, bred back to each other or to pure lavs will also produce some lavs. I've also gotten one (confirmed by the experts) lav out of my porcelain project, which to me stands to reason, as both parents are of lav/buff background. I recently got one lav from my black pen, but I knew the roo, a lav/black split showgirl from Bren and some of the hens were lav/black splits.

Have you hatched ones out like my chick? So there might not be any Blue (or additional colors) in her then?

It just stinks when you spend all that money to find out it may or may not be what you expected, ya know

Its very discouraging. Here's the pic of my ONLY Lav chick. I got eggs from sonew last year and hatched out some Splits. Well this chick is from my Splits and she's gorgeous! Nice clear, even color! She's about a month old...has a huge vault

She'll be a beauty when she gets older (hoping she's a she lol)

I didn't get them from Bren or Deb. I'll find out where the seller got her stock from when she emails me back...

If anybody has any PURE Lav Silkie pullets/hens for sale PLEEEEEEASE!!! let me know. I had 2 really nice Splits and 2 Lavs? that were just killed by the neighbors dogs

The owner told me today that she wants to make things right and give me money to replace the costs of the chickens her dogs killed. Soooooo if anybody wants to help me out.....let me know what you got & the prices. I don't have to have SQ or anything! I know this is a long shot with me wanting girls but

I took some pictures of my lav split hens I hatched last year and their chicks hatched this year....thought I'd share.

They are getting better! Slowly but surely.
