I am thinking about starting my own mealworm farm. I have about 50+ chickens now and 7 ducks. Getting expensive to buy dried mealworms. A $30 bag only lasts me about 2 weeks anymore and I usually only use them to treat the girls for returning to their pen after free ranging. Gets them to all come running when I want them inside...

Anyway, in doing some research into setting up a mealworm farm, I came across this video on a self-sorting setup. I thought it was pretty cool! Might use this idea! ☺

I have a mealworm farm... (when our sick chicken, Ponyo, was inside, we actually just let her go to town in the box. Sadly Ponyo passed a few days ago) but anyway, we love our little farm. It sits in the laundry room and we have a plastic container with some ground grain and every once in a while we put carrots or celery in there. Good luck with your farm.

I'm sorry to hear about Ponyo

I'm sorry you lost your lady, Ponyo. She had a wonderfully unique and pretty name!

A suggestion for those of us who are not handy with a saw or staple gun, I I made my trays with the plastic Criss-Cross or cross stitch mats from the hobby store and some hot glue. It's been working for me for a year now.I used a four drawer container and the cross stitch mats that are available from the hobby store in different sizes.. either way we save a lot of money.
