What a sweet boy, I think

Are your geese pretty friendly or are they stand offish and more for looks?

They are in my face most of the time unless I want to pet one they do not like to be touched, this is most all geese. But they are my kids and I love them to pieces. But they are bullies so if you ever decide to get some and have other poultry ducks/chickens etc you need to have alot of space my geese rule the barn yard so to speak and everyone gives them a wide berth.

And you better because that usually means they are giving you a warning or ready to attack. And that is usually when they have goslings. They are very protective.

You think that's bad, try dealing with mute swans...oi. The HOA keeps a pair at all times on the lake behind my house thinking it's somehow boosting property value and bein' all classy and mascottish and all that. But it's a waste, they're mean, and the only reason they stopped attacking Wobbles is because he's white and tiny and they probably think he's a cygnet!

oh, that's awful. Poor little innocent Wobbles. I am glad they left him alone. As Miss Lydia said, they are beautiful but I have seen swans bully geese and ducks at the river where I live. Nature is a wondrous and beastly entity.

that is true. Last year some goslings were throwing themselves off the roof of a 15' building while the parents waited below. They would land on the asphalt and bounce. I was horrified. I went and picked one up to right him and his Mom came at me hissing with wings open. I put him down promptly and left. He was OK. First time ever I'd seen a goose tongue. Big and pink like a human's.

There are 3 geese that live at the lake down the street and have been there for years. They attack all the joggers and kids on the playground. My friend ended up being penned up the slide with her kids. I know geese can be pretty mean but I was wondering if that's normal for "pets" as well as the ones that are out in the wild so to speak. Someone did befriend them and they come up to their yard and put their heads in the mans lap and he pets them.

I loved swans until I read about them. Soooooo pretty but man, they are mean!!!
