Sellers remorse..

I once gave three very precious, very special and rare Light Sussex to a gentleman who wanted to be a poultry man and whose daughter needed it for 4-H. couple years later I contacted them to see if they had any chicks . they said the birds didn't lay enough eggs so they ate them!!! the birds were worth $75 each and were show stock. sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

I have a chicken in with ducks and he's perfectly content. I'm sure your duck in fine with his new rooster friends and will like his new duck companions when they come.

I don't have the money or desire to keep everything I hatch out. I need to sell to buy food and things I need for my flock I have. I think the best policy for your heart is to not ask questions. You can't control what other people do and you never know if they're lieing anyway. I don't know. I just don't get as attached anymore. I've been raising birds for five or six years now. Been through dog attacks, hawk attacks, possums, racoon's, sickness, parasites, even choking on long grass. I've learned and improved, but I've hardened my heart. I treat them the best I can, I help them when I can, I put them down when I can't help them, I process some for the freezer, and I sell with no regrets.

Thank you! I've had birds since august. So I'm new to this. Maybe that's why I feel the way I do.

You know from your own experience that you can recognize when the situation is not working and a bird needs to go or a bird needs to be added or you need to mix things up. Hopefully the new owners can recognize the same and if it's not working with your bird they will give it away or add a friend or otherwise modify their housing and/or flock. It will be fine :hugs
