Nothing here to see folks, just a train wreck waiting to happen.

I wish people would just tell the truth of what they are selling. There are breeders who work very hard to breed true on these 2 breeds and there are others who just want to make a money. It just confuses people.

EE's or "hatchery ameraucanas" don't breed true.

True Ameraucanas breed true and are a true and recognized breed and color varieties.

I hate the fact that hatcheries sell the mutt EEs as ameraucanas and so the unknown citizen sells the chickens and eggs as such.

I for one love both EEs and Ameraucanas, the EEs are the grab bag bird, you can get any sorts of colors and egg colors, but true Ameraucanas you should get nice blue eggs and the birds should all have muffs and the colors breed true so you know what to expect when you breed them.

I don't like the attitude that ameraucana breeders get with the uneducated and unsuspecting people who were sold EEs as Ameraucanas. Yes they may be wrong, but there are nicer ways to go about telling folks that they were jipped and lied to. I was offered a dozen pure ameraucana eggs from a guy when I bought EEs years ago, he told me nicely "I'm sorry darlin' but someone screwed you over and those birds are mutts thats why your getting green and brown eggs. You want some nice blue egg layers? Give me a week and I'll send you some for the shipping so you can have yourself some next year." week later I had a dozen blue eggs under a silkie and cochin hen.

People like that are what make the great breeders and poultry friends. I hate seeing all the people attacked about something stupid, yes I don't like it either the mix ups and misconceptions, but I was taught I was wrong in what I was lead to believe, and we all need to do the same to other people. Its a crazy debate that will get us no where by jumping on folks.

The problem is that many people get 'aricana/americanas' from hatcheries and believe they are the real deal. I once saw some birds at a local swap...they were clearly (to me) EE. The seller told me they were 'pure arcanas'...I told him flat-out "no they're not" and walked away. I've quit trying to educate people around here, everyone thinks they're an expert.

The other problem is with hatchery's selling EE's as Amercauana's then seeing 4-H's entering them into the fair and knowing that they aren't what they say they are and there isn't anyone to tell these poor kids that they got a mutt instead of the real thing.
