Selling a roo?

Hello,

I have an extra Rhode Island Red cockerel that I need to re-home. He is about six months old. I am wondering if it is appropriate to ask for money for him? A lot of the time I see people just giving away their roosters, but he is a purebred that someone could use.
Would it be better to try and sell him or put him on the dinner table? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Where did you get him? Even if he is purebred if he is hatchery stock I would give him away.

Yes I think so, got him from a local feed store.

Then he is hatchery stock and probably has very poor bloodlines, I would give him away or invite him to dinner!
