Opportunity just knocked at my door or rather my phone today
and as I wanted to thin down and work with some different breeds, I offered mine on craigslist for $10 a piece. Some people who called were a little taken back at the price, but hey, you put energy and time into keeping them! The last lady that called didn't bat an eye and wants 2 dozen plus laying hens. Christopher Columbus! (anyone who doesn't get that must watch the original Little Women movie). Well I told her I could part with 15, keeping my special breeding blue orpingtons and wheaten ameraucanas. We'll have a little more room to try new breeds and increase our silkie flock.....feel the power of the silkie.... Me thinks maybe I am selling a little low, but I know that another breeder in the area sells his point of lay pullets for $10 apiece, but the catch is that you MUST by at least 5 of them. His come from the hatchery too.
