Hey guys, I have done research and I have decided to start a chick "selling" business in the spring! I really want to hatch eggs but have no need or room for more chickens. I have it planned out, just bought a small chicken coop, and am gonna use the Nurture right 360 incubator. I aha never hated before, but I will do small batches to figure out the incubator, and the process before I go into a full out business. I have a very old heat lamp, but am thinking a heating plate might be better because its like there under a momma hen. I the space in the coop is pretty big though, so a lamp might warm the space better. I am gonna be keeping the brooder and incubator, out in a predator proof shed, so it wont be a heated room. Otherwise, and brooding tips, and business tips are appreciated! I also want to know how to get the word out, since everyone goes to TSC already. Thanks for any info! I am very excited! Avery

I don't know anything about selling chicks, so if someone says that it's wrong please listen to them, but it may be good to sell chicks before they hatch, and get a few extra eggs to accommodate for lost eggs at least a bit. This way you won't be panicking trying to find homes for 10 chicks that are outgrowing space and at least 4 are obvious cockerels. Seems like a situation that could happen.

Good idea! I have been trying to do the same, but the word never seems to get out. If you ever have any questions or need any help with that incubator, I’ve been using one for a few years now and had to make a homemade one previously after a cheap one ended up breaking mid-hatch :idunno

Agreed, I was worried about that. It sounds like so much fun though! I mean, the rest of the family would have NO problem with culling, I am the only one who would! I guess if I want to do it I would have to be okay with processing any boys. But, no telling all of them is also an issue.
