Hey all,
I was just wondering is it possible to make a decent profit from incubating and selling day old chicks and ducklings etc?,
As I want to buy an expensive incubator and the chicks/ducklings can pay it off.
Thanks

Hey, im wanting to sell my chicks. How would I go about this? Do I need any licenses ect?

Most states require npip certification to legally sell chicks and hatching eggs. Google search your local laws regarding poultry.

There are a lot of different variables when it comes down to it. Ultimately, yes! You can sell chicks and ducklings and get some profit off of it, but it really depends on many things.
Will you be getting pure bred birds to make pure bred chicks? (You can get away with selling them a little more especially when they are rare breeds).
Where are you generally located? I know my area, having chickens is a very common thing for the locals and everyone seems to want some at some point. If youre in a more city based area, that might change things up a bit too?
Have you also considered selling eggs and meat to help as well?
We invested in a cabinet incubator, and thankfully, we have had great luck in selling the chicks that hatch. I'm sure you can make it happen too, but like many things, its an investment and you can't guarantee that you will always have buyers.

I always have extra to add, lol.

Do you incubate eggs often? Have you had a chance to sell any in the past? So many questions :)
