Pick breeds that are pretty around here they are hard to sell as most folks can order sexed chicks and could care less of the quality. They don't realize chickens don't all lay the same. Some aren't good layers even if the hatcheries do have "rare" breeds. This is why you get folks going "my hens aren't laying whats wrong? My Delawares barely skipped a beat. Lay way better than my hathcery girls. Good Lord they are laying now, nice sized eggs. Of course production birds are good to but folks want sexed birds. What are you going to do with the roos? If you haven't got that figured out don't hatch, cuz you'll get stuck with them.
