Selling Duck Eggs

For those who sell duck eggs, how much do you sell them for per dozen? I don't feed organic feed, but the free-range all day (they have access to 40 acres, but stick to probably no more than 5). And this is for someone asking to purchase eggs, I don't normally sell them, but based on what he wants to buy, I'm thinking it will pay for their food, which would be super nice. I might be able to upgrade to organic feed if I had income off the eggs.

Not sure where you are so prices might vary depending on location but I just charge $5 a dozen for mine. I could probably charge more but that pretty much pays for their feed and I have regular customers now that just come to the house so it's easy. I'm not really in it to make money anyway.

I do $5 a dozen and always do half dozen($2.50) for peeps who are interested in trying duck eggs. As duck eggs are not like chicken eggs(some people don't know that) I always tell them to try a half dozen first in case they don't like them.

$5 Is completely reasonable. I've seen $6. A quick look online has prices at $8-$10 plus Shipping. People expect to pay more for Organic and you should charge it.
Best method...Determine your Feed Cost every month for the productive season. Keep track of the number of Eggs Harvested. Feed Cost ÷ Number of Dozens of Eggs +The Cost of Cartons + the Cost of Printed Labels ( If using for good Advertising) = Minimum Sell Price, Per Dozen, to Break Even. You may find you can't get the Break Even $$$$ so evaluate if it's worth it. On the other hand, if you are near an Upper Middle Class Town or City, you can make a Profit. Example...Rent a Table at the local Farmer's or Flea Market. Sit there with 6 to 12 Dozen, at the Price you need and see what happens. If you Sell Out in less than, say an hour or two, the business is feasable. Add a the largest number of Ducks your infrastructure can handle. When they start Laying, get some Poster Size pretty Pics of your Ducks and Farm Printed, Dont forget a Company Name and Logo Sign with Contact Info. Go back to the Farmer's Market and You'll be making BANK! BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...JJ

I don't use organic feed. Purina layena and flock raiser but they get tons of fresh veggies and fruit from my garden and they forage all day so they are eating very well.

We sell only by the half dozen. If people purchase just eggs, we sell 6 eggs for $3. We sell eggs out of my wife's gallery, which is attached to our home, and we often use the eggs as value added with art sales. The ducks have become a big part of our brand for our art business, which is pretty cool. Probably 90% of our gallery visitors want to visit the ducks.

I don't feed organic because I can't find it were I live but if I found it I would switch to it....and then yes I would charge more for eggs.
