Hey guys!
I'm getting my first ducks in about a month and was just wanting to hear some ideas about selling the eggs. How much do you sell yours for? Did you just put a sign in your yard or how do you attract any new customers? I'm still really new to this but I am going to be the only person in my area that I'm aware of who sells ducks eggs rather than chicken, and even then there is only one person who sells their chicken eggs from home!

I sell my chicken eggs and my sisters duck eggs to folks at my gym but I know people on here sell their eggs at their workplaces too. I dont know where you are located but I get $5 for my chicken eggs and $7 for my sisters ducks.

In my area I have a hard time selling duck eggs. I live in the countryside and there are a lot of people with chickens and medium sized farms too. As such I am lucky to get $2 a dozen for my chicken eggs. However, I have family who lives closer to the city and they get $5-8 a dozen depending on egg size and duck vs chicken.

Now, I sell all of my eggs to one person who owns a co-op. I tried the whole sign thing and never got too many customers so I placed an ad in the newspaper and now I sell all of my extra eggs. About 14 dozen a week during peak production.

I have heard people say that taking duck eggs to your local Asian market is a goo idea, if you have one, I do not.

Good luck!

Thanks for your responses! I live just barely out of city limits (about half of a mile) on a main road in Indiana so I think I'm close enough to the city that some traffic doesn't live in the country. The person in my area who sells their chicken eggs sells at $2.50 a dozen. Duck eggs usually always cost more than chicken, correct?
I also have two local Asian markets and didn't think of taking them there! Not a bad idea at all because I've never seen fresh eggs at either and I know balut is a specialty for some.

I have 2 Pekin ducks that are laying, doing so good I bought 5 more for egg production. I'm fortunate that connections hooked me up with a small cafe that buys all the chicken and duck eggs I have. I'm not making a financial killing but making enough back for what I want, one big savings is the egg cartons are returned every week so that's 35c back each carton, big savings when your looking at 3.50 doz. Price your egg cartons for the duck eggs bf you decide sell price. The deal I found was about 60 cents each...ouch, that was twice the cost of ckn cartons. The duck eggs are 5$ doz. I'm sure I could get more for the eggs but I'm happy dealing with one customer weekly. I have read that most people with chicken egg allergies are able to eat duck eggs. Maybe u can work a sales connection from doc office. Also, the duck eggs are said to be sought after by chefs...pastry chef in particular. Good luck on your adventure. I love my ducks.
