Hi everyone,
I like to look on craigslist a lot and I always browse the wanted section to see if there is anything on there someone wants that I might have. Anyways, I have seen quite a few ads in our area for people wanting hatching eggs.
I have extra eggs occasionally that we don't sell at my husbands work and thought, "hmm, I could sell these as hatching eggs." Problem being, I have no idea what to charge?
These eggs will be mutt eggs, our new coop is under construction so everyone is still together.
I have:
EE's, BO's, and Polish Crested for our standard size birds
Silkies, Mille Fleur D'uccle's, and Frizzle Cochin for bantam size
The eggs can have any number of mixed mutts. I have hatched out pure Silkies and MF D'uccles from the bantam eggs, and mostly EE x BO from our large eggs.
I do have a ton of babies, but no one will be laying until late fall.
When we do have our new coop up, I will be separating out all the Silkies and they will have the smaller coop and the new coop will house everyone else. Silkies are rare in our area and I would like to sell hatching eggs and chicks locally next year.
For now though I would be happy to make a few dollars on the little extra that we have.
Hopefully someone will have some ideas on what I should charge.
